The 2014 Oscar nominations only came out, and there are many vital surprises and WTFs, only like there are each year. I’m unhappy that Idris Elba didn’t make a shortlist for Best Actor for Mandela, though we was arrange of awaiting it too. My biggest surprise? NO LOVE FOR EMMA THOMPSON. we comprehend that Saving Mr. Banks wasn’t a best film of a year or anything, though to not commend Emma’s superb work is absurd. ABSURD. I’m also still astounded to see a Academy still ride-or-dying for Alexander Payne and his latest film, Nebraska, as that film garnered many nominations. I’m many gratified with all of a nominations for 12 Years a Slave: we disturbed that someone vital would be snubbed (like Chiwetel) and we would be so disappointed, though everyone’s there. So, here are a nominations in a vital categories:

Best Supporting Actress:
Lupita Nyong’o, “12 Years a Slave”
Sally Hawkins, “Blue Jasmine”
Jennifer Lawrence for “American Hustle”
June Squibb for “Nebraska”

Lead Actress:
Amy Adams, “American Hustle”
Cate Blanchett, “Blue Jasmine”
Sandra Bullock, “Gravity”
Meryl Streep, “August: Osage County”
Judi Dench, “Philomenia”

Best Director:
David O. Russell, “American Hustle”
Alfonso Cuaron, “Gravity”
Alexander Payne, “Nebraska”
Steve McQueen, “12 Years a Slave”
Martin Scorsese, “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

Best Picture:
“American Hustle,” ”Captain Phillips,” ”Dallas Buyers Club,” ”Gravity,” ”Her,” ”Nebraska,” ”Philomena,” ”12 Years a Slave,” ”The Wolf of Wall Street.”

Yes, a Academy loves David O. Russell. The Academy loves Christian Bale no matter what (although to be fair, Bale’s Hustle opening was maybe a many I’ve ever favourite him in a role). The Academy loves Amy Adams, that is nice. The Academy loves Judi Dench, like, A LOT. And apparently a Academy is sleepy of Tom Hanks. Which is kind of humorous given Tom is like Meryl – he gets nominated for only display up, though not this year. Also: no Robert Redford, which… we understand. His film got buzz, though we don’t consider Redford unequivocally gives a crap. Oh, and NO JOAQUIN PHOENIX. Which is substantially excellent with him given he thinks awards are crap anyway. AND NO OPRAH. Oh, Oprah is going to be vexed about that. That’s kind of severe for her given she wanted it.

Also: a Academy loves Jonah Hill, that still cracks me up. Jonah Hill is a subsequent good actor, amirite. And while we didn’t embody Best Foreign Film nominees, a lot of people are articulate about a ostracism of Blue Is a Warmest Color. Damn, because does a Academy hatred French lesbians?!
